


Samaritan Hebrew is the Hebrew of the Samaritan bible. It retains the characters unlike modern Hebrew so is the nearest to Ancient Hebrew. Textual Criticism finds use in the readings from the Samaritan bible.
It is also the language used by the people of Samaria and provides much insight into the culture and customs of Israel. Samaritans worshipped upon My Gerizim. Their history dates back to the Assyrian deportation. Judeans tended to look down on them due to their mixed heritage.
