Targumic Aramaic is the Aramaic of the Targums Onkelos, Jonathan, etc. The value of Targumic Aramaic is the wealth of cultural and historical information that can be gleaned from the Targums. Many Jews had lost the natural ability to communicate effectively in Hebrew and needed translation into Aramaic.
